The earth’s resources are finite. As a sustainable company, we’re conscious of our obligations towards the planet. We save CO₂ wherever possible. We offset the rest by supporting climate protection projects. When it comes to packaging, we opt for solutions that use as little material as possible, that are ideally made from recycled materials, which can be recycled again themselves.

Protecting our environment and climate is one of the most pressing tasks of our time. Our commitment to the social and environmental well-being of our society is about more than just a handful of projects. It’s about the bigger picture: it’s an opportunity to ensure our planet remains liveable.

Carbon offsetting

Working with a team of independent experts, we calculated our company’s carbon footprint based on the internationally recognised Greenhouse Gas Protocol. We then used this to define smart goals and measures to reduce and offset our carbon emissions. Next, we offset our carbon emissions for the years 2019 to 2023 in full using high-quality carbon certificates. These certificates go towards financing projects in developing and emerging countries that, in addition to climate action, help improve the living conditions of people in those regions.

Our employees have helped decide which three different initiatives GAMOMAT financially supports for reforestation efforts.

Climate protection project
CO₂OL Tropical Mix

This environmental initiative was one of the first projects in Panama to be certified with the renowned Gold Standard for land use activities and nature-based solutions.

Land in Panama that has been extensively cleared and used for rearing cattle is being replanted with indigenous tree species and gradually transformed into mixed forest — preserving biological diversity and restoring a healthy forest ecosystem.

Climate protection project
Re-Spire Westerwald

The Westerwald forest on the banks of the Rhine in Germany has lost an estimated 90% of its spruce trees in the last three years as a result of storms, drought and a bark beetle infestation. As well as creating enormous bare patches in the woodlands, this also represents a serious threat to the region’s ground water supply. Through our donations we’re helping to make these areas green again, cultivate a robust mixed forest and secure long-term carbon savings.

Uchindile & Mapanda

In the Southern Highlands in Tanzania, East Africa, we’re supporting a reforestation project in the degraded grasslands of Uchindile and Mapanda.

Land that’s been used for timber is being replanted with a range of exotic and indigenous tree species, as well as indigenous varieties of fruit, to improve biodiversity and ensure the health and resilience of the land. Locals will be able to use these new forests for sustainable farming, providing them with reliable, long-term opportunities to make a living.

Climate protection project
Impact Village

The Impact Village project, led by the organisation ClimateNuts, collaborates with rural farmers on long-term initiatives in Sierra Leone, West Africa. The goal is sustainable CO₂ neutralisation through the reforestation of food forests. These forests sequester CO₂ while simultaneously enhancing the resilience of local communities.

Working closely with these communities, not only strengthens biodiversity but provides economic stability for the local population. Impact Village stands for sustainable development and positive, lasting change in the rural regions of Sierra Leone.

In December 2021, we started the “Gaming for the Climate” initiative, which sees us donate a portion of GAMOMAT revenue from selected games to organisations committed to climate action and environmental protection.

We launched our “Gaming for the Climate” initiative in 2021 with “Book of Oasis”. The game, which tasks players with finding a secret underwater temple, focuses on one of our most crucial resources: water.

We support Healthy Seas, an organisation that works worldwide to remove abandoned fishing nets and plastic from the ocean, undertakes prevention activities with fishing workers, and raises awareness of ocean health across the globe.

Welcome to the jungle! Our Monkey Mania game, which launched on 1 November 2022, was the second game to join our Gaming for the Climate initiative. With its exciting jungle characters, it has a direct connection to our commitment to the orangutan and rainforest conservation projects of Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS).

Through our financial commitment, we’re supporting the protection of more than 200,000 hectares of untouched rainforest in Borneo’s Mawas region, the deployment of fire patrol units at relevant hotspots, and the reforestation of destroyed land.

Players mark on a scorching adventure and help GAMOMAT to support the protection of an African habitat where around 430 lions roam wild. Our great Lava Lions game launched in July 2023 and is partnered with a wonderful social initiative that will raise funds to help the game’s main protagonist.

The collaboration with the African Wildlife Foundation means part of GAMOMAT’s net revenue of Lava Lions will directly support a crucial project in the Tsavo Conservation Area, a complex of formally protected areas, community-based conservancies, and adjacent ranches in southern Kenya, bordering Tanzania. Focus will be on funding land-use planning, restoration activities and long-term sustainability of the park.

In 2024, we proudly expanded our initiative in partnership with WeForest, featuring the exciting game, Alexandria Fire. In light of the climate crisis and the rising sea levels impacting the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria, we’re happy to support We Forest’s mission of “Making Earth Cooler”.

Their work focuses on restoring forests, managing soil and water, and alleviating poverty. Their holistic, science-based approach reduces CO2 levels, combats rising sea levels, and supports global climates. Our financial support is dedicated to WeForest’s ambitious global work to restore and protect arid afromontane forests and bring water back regions directly threatened by desertification.
